My Top Summer Outdoor Prep Tips
This is a sponsored conversation written by me on behalf of Banana Boat® and OFF!®. The opinions and texts are all mine.
Hi friends, I am getting ready for several things this summer although the sun is clearly not going anywhere in California and it is a heat wave. We are still getting ready to hit the road and travel up the coast next week. I stopped by Walmart to pick up the summer essentials and there are two products I love and wanted to share with you because they might have some times to use them that you didn’t think of. So to help you prepare for summer, My Top Summer Outdoor Prep tips are all yours! For our road trip we will be stopping by some of California’s most beautiful beaches so sunscreen is 100% necessary – especially if you’re like me and you’re white as a ghost and burn easily.
Summer Road trip Sun Prep
#1 – Bring Sunscreen – Buy something that provides safe and effective broad spectrum UVA and UVA protection available in SPF 30 and 50+. I have been using Banana Boat® products since I was a kid and I love them – this year I picked up a new kind, SunComfort and love it.
#2- Apply your sunscreen and make sure you have water resistant formula (up to 80 minutes) and it’s a good idea to use water resistant when you n for long hikes or any activity you think you might be sweating a lot.
#3 – Pick out the perfect pair of sun glasses – protect your eyes and make sure your sunglasses have UV protection and are not just pretty.
#4 – Did you know that if you apply Banana Boat® SunComfort to your feet, when it’s time to go to the car the sand will just brush off, it’s my top trick for removing sand because we all love the beach but the sand can sometime find its way everywhere.
#5 – Use your Banana Boat® SunComfort to help relieve dry skin this particular light weight lotion is perfect for your forearms. Also be sure while driving on long trips that your arms are protected. The sun blazing in from the window can also do long term damage to your skin and is often forgotten about. We will be doing some hiking up in the falls in Big Sur, CA as one of our first stops and while I love hiking and the outdoors, I HATE bugs. So of course I recommend picking up the tried and true OFF!® personal insect repellent. Let me now share with you my top tips for avoiding mosquito bites during your summer hiking sessions

Summer Hiking Prep
#6 -Pick up OFF!® personal repellent and make sure to spray you hiking shoes lightly – this is what I do It helps keep the bugs out when I take my shoes off to dip my feet in the water and I notice I avoid getting any crawlers this way.
#7 -When you apply to your skin make sure you wait a minute for it to absorb and dry
#8 – Mosquitoes prefer darker colors so keep your hiking gear and clothes light this will also help you stay cooler. For staying protected with my gear I use the OFF!® Active or OFF! Deep Woods® Insect Repellent VIII (Dry)
#9 – Pick up all your summer gear at Walmart for the best prices – I purchased both these products there and found I saved a good amount, and every penny counts when you have the kids home for the summer. Towelettes these are great for kids if you are worried about the sprays but my best tip is when you are camping out – to stick one in your pillow cover and then you don’t have to worry about bugs when you are sleeping outdoors – make sure you prep an hour or two before bedtime.
